Title:
DECONTAMINATION METHOD AND DEVICE FOR RADIOACTIVELY CONTAMINATED SOIL OR SLUDGE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2016/013560
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a decontamination method for radioactively contaminated soil or sludge, said method having a subcritical water treatment process and a removal process. In the subcritical water treatment process: high-temperature, high-pressure steam is supplied into a pressure vessel; an object to be treated, i.e. radioactively contaminated soil and/or sludge inside the pressure vessel, is stirred while being heated and pressurized; a sudden increase in the temperature and/or pressure inside the pressure vessel is detected with the temperature inside the pressure vessel in a range exceeding 150 °C; after this detection, the amount of supplied steam is adjusted such that the temperature inside the pressure vessel is maintained for 5-10 minutes at or above the temperature at the time when the sudden increase started; and subsequently, the supply of steam is stopped. In the removal process, a radioactive substance contained in the object to be treated, said object having undergone the subcritical water treatment process, is separated and removed therefrom. Due to the subcritical water treatment, the object to be treated is decomposed using a small amount of energy consumption, and in the latter process, the radioactive substances is easily separated and removed by washing.
