Abstract:
A decorative cap (614) and nut (612) or bolt insert and a method of assembly. The insert is coated and includes a hex-shaped section (624) and a section having a cylindrical outer surface (633). The cap includes a hex-shaped section (653) and a cylindrical section (655). The hex-shaped section of the cap slips over the hex-shaped section of the insert while the cylindrical section of the cap has a smaller inner diameter than the outer diameter of the cylindrical section of the inert. The cap is formed of a sheet material which when pressed onto the insert deforms plastically and elastically to form an interference fit holding the cap onto the insert.
