DECORATIVE REFLECTING ADHESIVE TESSERAE FOR ATTACHING TO THEHAIR, FACE, BODYOR CLOTHES

DESCRIPTION This patent relates to accessories for the hair and particularly concerns new reflecting adhesive tesserae made of glass or polycarbonate for attaching to the hair, face, body or clothes.

There are already cosmetic products for the face and body, commonly defined as "glitter", composed of a transparent or colored paste incorporating a large number of small bright elements having dimensions of the order of 1-2 mm ² .

These glitter products are generally made of plastic and have a smooth colored surface.

The application of this type of cosmetic product to the skin of the face or body has the effect of reflecting the light and lending brilliance.

There are also known cosmetic products with similar light-reflecting properties for application to the hair in the form of gels, sprays or coloring creams.

One of the drawbacks deriving from the use of such cosmetic products of known type consists in the difficulty of removing the product after its application.

For instance, the glitter can only be removed completely by accurately washing the skin or hair, since they are extremely small in size.

The known products for the hair in creams, gels and sprays also make the hair greasy and flat, and may not be well tolerated by sensitive skins.

Moreover, such products often leave a stain in fabrics and consequently cannot be used on clothes.

To overcome all the above-mentioned drawbacks, new reflecting adhesive tesserae have been designed particularly for application to the hair, face, body, clothes, etc.

The main object of the present invention is to be suitable for application to the hair as a decorative element to create light-reflecting effects and lend brilliance.

Another object of the present invention is to avoid making the hair or skin greasy.

Another object of the present invention is to be easily and rapidly removable without the need for any washing procedures.

Another object of the present invention is to be very quick and easy to attach.

A further object of the present invention is to avoid staining the skin, hair or fabrics. Another object of the present invention is to be suitable for application on clothes and fabrics in general.

These and other direct and complementary objects are achieved by the new reflecting adhesive tesserae, preferably made of glass, applicable particularly to the hair, face, body, clothes and other fabrics. The present invention basically consists of a plurality of substantially flat tesserae that are preferably made of glass.

Alternatively, said tesserae may be made of polycarbonate, PVC or another type of plastic polymer.

Said tesserae comprise an upper reflecting surface, while the underside is adhesive, designed to enable the attachment of the tesserae to the hair, the skin of the face and body, fabrics of all kinds, and so on.

Said adhesive surface is achieved by means of the application of an adhesive

film or glue. Before use, said adhesive surface remains attached to a removable backing.

In the preferred embodiment of the invention, said tesserae are attached to a layer of double-sided adhesive sheet or tape. To be more precise, said tesserae are attached to one of the two adhesive surfaces of said double-sided adhesive sheet or tape, while the adhesive surface on the opposite side is used to make the tesserae adhere to the hair, skin, or fabric.

The upper reflecting surface of said tesserae, opposite the adhesive surface, may be partially or totally flat, concave and/or convex, smooth or with decorations or knurling of various kinds.

Said tesserae may be rectangular or polygonal, circular, elliptic, generally rounded or in any other shape, such as flowers, hearts, etc.

The new adhesive tesserae are preferably of the order of 0.25-4 cm ² in size. To use the present invention, the user detaches the portion of tape or sheet supporting the tesserae they wish to use, separates it from the protective backing film and attaches the tesserae in any required arrangement on the hair, and/or on the face, body, clothes and any other fabrics.

Since the present invention does not call for the application of semi-liquid adhesives, the tesserae can simply be removed by lifting them off the surface to which they are attached, without any subsequent need to wash or cleanse the surface they were on because they leave no residue.

The application of the new reflecting adhesive tesserae does not call for the use of caps or any other kind of unsightly support. The new invention also offers users or hairdressers the utmost freedom in the composition of the tesserae.

The characteristics of the present invention are better explained in the

following description with reference to the drawings, attached hereto as an non-restrictive example.

Figure 1 shows a tessera attached to a portion of double-sided adhesive tape, while figure Ia shows a roll of double-sided adhesive tape with the tesserae attached thereto.

Figure 2 is an example of an application of the present invention.

The present invention consists of a plurality of substantially flat tesserae (T) with an adhesive underside (T2), that is used to attach the tesserae to the hair (C), or to the skin or a fabric. Before the tessera is used, said adhesive surface (T2) is protected by a removable backing paper (S) or film.

On the side opposite the adhesive surface (T2), the upper, reflecting surface

(Tl) of said tesserae (T) may be partially or totally flat, concave and/or complex, smooth or with decorations or knurling of various kinds. According to the preferred embodiment, said tesserae (T) are made of glass with beveled edges (B).

As a result, with reference to the above description and to the attached drawings, the following claims are stated.
