DEFLECTION LIGHT-GUIDING PLATE, LIGHTING APPARATUS, AND PROJECTION TYPE DISPLAY APPARATUS

A deflection light-guiding plate comprises a light guiding body (10) wherein light entering from an end face thereof propagates therethrough; a 1/4 wavelength plate (11) formed on one of the faces of the light guiding body (10); a reflection layer (12) formed on the other of the faces of the light guiding body (10); and a plurality of refraction sections (13, 14) formed within the light guiding body (10) so as to face the one of the faces. The refraction sections (13) are made to have an index of refraction for a first deflection to be greater than that of the light guiding body (10), and have an index of refraction for a second deflection, which is different from the first deflection, to be the same as that of the light guiding body (10). The refraction sections (14) are made to have the index of refraction for the first deflection to be smaller than that of the light guiding body (10), and have the index of refraction for the second deflection to be the same as that of the light guiding body (10). The refraction sections (13, 14) are arranged alternately in a first direction, which intersects with a direction vertical to the end face.
