Abstract:
Driving safety and driving comfort are both taken into consideration. A degree of concentration determination device comprises: a monitoring data acquisition unit that acquires monitoring data from a sensor for monitoring a driver of a vehicle; a degree of concentration estimation unit that estimates a degree of concentration of the driver from the monitoring data; a standard comparison unit that compares the driving degree of concentration with a standard for an automatic driving mode when the driving mode of the vehicle is the automatic driving mode, and compares the driving degree of concentration with a standard for a manual driving mode when the driving mode of the vehicle is the manual driving mode; and a signal output unit that outputs an instruction signal instructing to execute assistance for the driver after the elapse of a first time when, during the automatic driving mode, the driving degree of concentration does not meet the standard for the automatic driving mode, and outputs the instruction signal after the elapse of a second time, which is shorter than the first time, when, during the manual driving mode, the driving degree of concentration does not meet the standard for the manual driving mode.
