Abstract:
[Problem] To provide: a catalyst that is highly active in the dehydrogenation of alkylaromatic hydrocarbons in the presence of water vapor not only in a high-temperature range (for example, 600-650ºC) which corresponds to the catalyst layer inlets of SM manufacturing devices but also in a low-temperature range (for example, below 600ºC) which corresponds to the catalyst layer outlets where the temperature has fallen due to endothermic reaction; a process for producing the catalyst; and a dehydrogenation method. [Solution] The above-mentioned problem is solved with a catalyst which is for use in dehydrogenating alkylaromatic hydrocarbons, the catalyst comprising iron (Fe), potassium (K), and cerium (Ce) and further including at least one rare-earth element other than cerium.
