Abstract:
Provided is a technology that, when merchandise is purchased online, can shorten the time needed for delivery. A delivery assistance device that comprises: a management unit that manages inventory information for merchandise held by each of a plurality of circulating vehicles; a first reception unit that receives, from each of the plurality of circulating vehicles, current location information that indicates the current location of the circulating vehicle; a first transmission unit that transmits the inventory information to a customer terminal; a second reception unit that receives, from the customer terminal, order information that includes information on merchandise ordered on the basis of the inventory information, and delivery destination information that indicates a delivery destination for the merchandise; a specifying unit that, on the basis of the current locations of the circulating vehicles indicated by the current location information and of the location of the delivery destination indicated by the delivery destination information, specifies the circulating vehicle that, from among the circulating vehicles that hold the ordered merchandise, will arrive at the delivery destination fastest; and a second transmission unit that transmits the order information to the specified circulating vehicle. The management unit updates the inventory information for the specified circulating vehicle on the basis of the order information.
