Abstract:
Apparatus, for dentists, that serves to separate incisors, premolars and/or molars without causing pain to tissues near the teeth because two separating fins of the invention rest only on the crown of the teeth and separate, through one micrometric screw, two adjacent teeth, or not adjacent, applying them only a horizontal force. The invention is simple in its use and can even operate between sixth and seventh and seventh and eighth teeth (wisdom teeth). All these characteristics can be found in the invention, while no existing separator could realize them.

Claims:
CLAIMS
1. 1) Dental separator characterised by the fact that it is constituted of four small separating wings (1) held together in couples by two supporting bars (2), that said supporting bars (2) each have at least one guide (3) for each pivot (4), that said pivot (4) is a separating pivot (4) that is inserted into the smooth area (6) in said guide (3) that has a ridge (14) for the blocking ring (7) and is screwed in with the threaded part (8) in the opposing guide (3) for a threaded pivot, that said separating pivot (4) is screwed in by a screwdriver (10) having a handle (11) and a head with a hook (12) that is inserted into the hole for the hook (5) of the separating pivot (4).
2. Dental separator according to claim 1) characterised by the fact that the supporting bars (2) have a separating pivot (4) at the base and a stabilising pivot (13), that said stabilising pivot (13) is fixed into a guide (3) for each pivot (4) and is inserted into the opposing guide (3) where it can move freely.
3. Dental separator according to claim 1) characterised by the fact that the supporting bars (2) have a separating pivot (4) placed on the upper central part of said supporting bars (2). The separating pivot (4) is inserted with the smooth area (6) into the guide (3), which presents a ridge (14) for the blocking ring (7) and is screwed in with the threaded part (8) in the opposing guide for a threaded pivot (3).
4. Dental separator according to any of the preceding claims characterised by the fact that the screwdriver (10) has a handle (11) and a head with a hook (12).
5. Dental separator according to any of the preceding claims characterised by the fact that the screwdriver (10) has a handle (11) and a crosshead that is inserted into the corresponding cross cavity made in the separating pivot to screw in the same.
Description:
DENTAL SEPARATOR Technical field of the invention The present invention-concerns dental separators that allow teeth to be temporarily separated without causing pain.

State of the Art To separate two teeth dental separators are used ; one of these is described in the patent US 1829898, in which is shown an apparatus constituted of two hooks that are inserted in two adjoining or non-adjoining teeth, and by applying a force to the two hooks the teeth onto which they are inserted are distanced. To do their job the hooks must be positioned beneath the widest point of the diameter of each tooth and, when they are subjected to the action of a force, tend to descend onto the gums, causing blood loss and pain.

Furthermore, the mechanism that activates the teeth-separating force is perpendicular to the dental arch and occupies a great deal of space, making it almost impossible to use said separator when it is necessary to work on the parietal sides of the teeth.

The principal scope of the present invention is the creation of a dental separator characterised by the fact that it is constituted of four small separating wings, held together in couples by two supporting bars, that said supporting bars have at least one guide per pivot each, that said pivot is a separating pivot that is inserted with its smooth area into said guide that has a ridge for the blocking ring and is screwed in with the threaded part in the opposing guide for a threaded pivot, that said separating pivot is screwed in by a screwdriver with a handle and a head with a hook that is inserted into the hole for the hook of the separating pivot.

Another characteristic is given by the fact that the supporting bars have a separating pivot and a stabilizing pivot at the base, and that said stabilizing pivot is fixed in a pivot guide and is inserted into the opposite guide where it can move freely.

Another characteristic is given by the fact that the supporting bars have a separating pivot set on the upper central part of said supporting bar. The separating pivot is inserted with the smooth part in the guide having the ridge for the blocking ring and is screwed in with the threaded part into the opposing guide for a threaded pivot.

Another characteristic is given by the fact that the screwdriver has a handle and a head with a hook.

Another characteristic is given by the fact that the screwdriver has a handle and a cross-head that is inserted into the corresponding cross-cavity made in the separating pivot to screw in the same.

Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear clear from the description included here of some of the methods in which to create the invention, given as non-limiting examples in the figures 1,2, 3,4, 5,6 and 7.

Detailed description of the invention With reference to the figures 2,3 and 4, the dental separator object of the present invention is constituted by four small separating wings (1), held together in couples by two supporting bars (2), said small separating wings (1) have two curves, one longitudinal and one transversal, in order to adhere better to the lateral surface of the teeth that one intends to separate.

The supporting bars (2) each have at least one guide (3) for each pivot. One of said pivots (4) is a separating pivot, cylindrical in shape, which has a hole for a hook (5), a smooth area (6), a blocking ring (7) and a threaded part (8), that is screwed into the guide for a threaded pivot (9).

With reference to figure 1, the separating pivot (4) is screwed in by using a screwdriver (10), which has a handle (11) and a head with a hook (12). The hook (12) can be substituted by a cross-head, which is inserted into the corresponding cross-cavity made in the separating pivot for screwing in the same.

In the examples in figures 2,3 and 4 the supporting bars (2) have a separating pivot at the base (4) and a stabilising pivot (13). The separating pivot (4) is inserted with the smooth area (6) in a guide (3) that has a ridge (14) for the blocking ring (7) and is screwed in with the threaded part (8) in the opposing guide (3) for a threaded pivot. The stabilising pivot (13) is fixed into a guide (3) for a pivot (4) and is inserted into the opposing guide (3) where it can move freely.

In the examples in the preceding figures 2,3 and 4 the dental separator, object of the present invention, is inserted between two teeth and by activating the separating pivot (4) with the screwdriver (10), the pivot guides (3) are separated because the separating pivot (4), unscrewed, forces the threaded pivot guide (3) in one direction and the ridge (14), present on the opposing pivot guide (3), in the opposite direction. The dental separation occurs with the small separating wings that adhere perfectly to the surface of the teeth to be separated, and the presence of the two curves does not permit the separator to fall onto the gums and therefore, because there is no other contact with any other material, this discovery makes the operation non-traumatic.

In the figures 5,6 and 7 an alternative solution for the present invention is illustrated. The supporting bars (2) have a separating pivot (4) placed on the upper central part of said supporting bar (2). The separating pivot (4) is inserted with the smooth area (6) into the guide (3) that has the ridge (14) for the blocking ring (7) and which is screwed with the threaded part (8) into the opposing guide for a threaded pivot (3).

The dental separator of the present invention can also be used to separate non- adjoining teeth, as illustrated in figures 6 and 7. It functions in the same manner, and there is no need for any modification to the separator.

One of these opportunities allows the abrasive strips to move, after the filling of the inter-dental spaces, making smooth the surfaces dealt with by treatment.

Once the teeth are separated there will be an empty space, between the small separating wings, in which to operate easily.

The discovery, it should be intended, is not limited to the representations given by the designs, but may be perfected and modified by skilled persons without leaving the area of the patent.

The present invention permits numerous advantages and to overcome difficulties that could not have been overcome with the systems at present on sale.
