Abstract:
Deodorant compositions using a Mate extract have an advantage of having high safety with no side effect since the Mate extract is obtained from natural materials. However, these compositions suffer from a problem that the deodorant effect thereof is seriously deteriorated under weakly acidic conditions. To overcome this problem, disclosed is a deodorant containing a Mate extract which sustains a high deodorant effect even under weakly acidic conditions. By using a Mate extract together with laccase, a high deodorant effect can be achieved even under weakly acidic conditions where the deodorant effect of the existing deodorant compositions comprising a Mate extract is deteriorated. The strong bitterness and astringency of Mate can be reduced by preparing the Mate extract by a two-stage extraction method.
