Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of: from among lactic acid bacteria, discovering bacteria exhibiting the quality of suppressing an increase in deoxycholic acid, which is a secondary bile acid, without reducing cholic acid, which is a primary bile acid, and the quality of reducing already present deoxycholic acid; and providing a deoxycholic acid reduction agent having said lactic acid bacteria as an active ingredient thereof. The present invention provides a deoxycholic acid reduction agent having a lactic acid bacterial cell belonging to Lactobacillus gasseri, and/or a culture thereof, as an active ingredient. Specifically, the Lactobacillus gasseri SBT 2055 (FERM BP-10953) is preferable among the lactic acid bacteria that belong to Lactobacillus gasseri. The present invention further provides a nutritional composition, a food/beverage, or an animal food that contains the deoxycholic acid reduction agent.
