Abstract:
Wavelet analysis is applied to both a pitch angular velocity θ(t) and a roll angular velocity φ(t) outputted from an angular velocity sensor (35) installed in a train car, and a wavelet coefficient (14) of pitch angular velocity and a wavelet coefficient (15) of roll angular velocity are calculated. Each of the two wavelet coefficients (14, 15), which change in chronological order, are compared with a wavelet coefficient threshold value (16), and a derailment predictor is detected when both coefficients exceed the threshold value. Wavelet coefficients calculated for a low-frequency range of, for example, 0.5-100 Hz are used. Two types of derailment predictor detection algorithms, one involving a frequency range and the other a time range, are combined to increase derailment predictor detection accuracy. Real time processing of the frequency range is made possible and derailment prevention is achieved by using wavelet analysis.
