Abstract:
The present invention is a desalination system that produces fresh water from seawater and low-osmotic pressure water with an osmotic pressure lower than seawater, wherein the system comprises: a first reverse osmosis membrane module that has a first reverse osmosis membrane, that separates fresh water from seawater via the first reverse osmosis membrane, and that discharges concentrated brine that is concentrated seawater; a first high-pressure pump that supplies seawater to the first reverse osmosis membrane module; a second reverse osmosis membrane module that has a second reverse osmosis membrane, that separates fresh water from the low-osmotic pressure water via the second reverse osmosis membrane, and that discharges concentrated low-osmotic pressure water that is the low-osmotic pressure water that has been concentrated; a second high-pressure pump that supplies the low-osmotic pressure water to the second reverse osmosis membrane module; a forward osmosis membrane module that has a forward osmosis membrane, that dilutes the concentrated brine with water supplied from the concentrated low-osmotic pressure water via the forward osmosis membrane, and that discharges diluted brine that is the concentrated brine that has been diluted; and an energy recovery device that recovers energy from the diluted brine.
