The purpose of the present invention is to provide a destination estimation system and destination estimation method that make it possible to highly accurately estimate a destination even when a detour is taken or an intermediate destination is visited. A destination estimation system according to the present invention is provided with: a travel information acquisition unit for acquiring a travel area and travel link of a moving body; a travel history acquisition unit for acquiring, as a travel history, an area history storing, for each area, information about past destinations traveled to via the area by the moving body and a link history storing, for each link, information about past destinations traveled to via the link by the moving body; an area estimation unit for estimating area estimation values pertaining to the probability of traveling to past destinations on the basis of the travel area and area history; a link estimation unit for estimating link estimation values pertaining to the probability of traveling to past destinations on the basis of the travel link and link history; and a destination estimation unit for estimating a destination from among the past destinations on the basis of the area estimation values and link estimation values.
