Abstract:
A desulfurization device/method and a fuel cell system are provided in which the occurrence of a breakthrough is prevented while effectively utilizing the ability of a desulfurization catalyst.
The desulfurization device (1) is equipped with: a desulfurization catalyst (11) which changes in remaining sulfur adsorptivity depending on the level of a remaining-adsorptivity reducer contained in a gas to be desulfurized (C); a remaining-adsorptivity reducer level acquisition means (21) which detects the level of a remaining-adsorptivity reducer contained in the gas to be desulfurized (C); a flowmeter (22) which measures the flow amount of the gas to be desulfurized (C); and a presumption means (91) which integrates the amounts measured by the flowmeter (22), estimates, from the integrated value, the integrated amount of sulfur adsorbed on the desulfurization catalyst (11), updates the amount of sulfur that can be further adsorbed on the desulfurization catalyst (11), and presumes that the remaining sulfur adsorptivity of the desulfurization catalyst (11) has decreased to or below a first given value, when a gas to be desulfurized (C) having the remaining-adsorptivity reducer level detected by the remaining-adsorptivity reducer level acquisition means (21) has come into contact with the desulfurization catalyst (11). The fuel cell system (100) is equipped with the desulfurization device (1), a reformer (51), and a fuel cell (52).
