Abstract:
The detection device according to the present invention has a transmission unit, an extraction unit, and a detection unit. The transmission unit causes a first transmission wave having a first frequency and a second transmission wave having a second frequency to be transmitted successively from an ultrasonic sensor used in a vehicle. The extraction unit extracts a frequency component from a reflected wave having a reception level greater than a predetermined threshold value from among reflected waves received by the ultrasonic sensor. The detection unit detects an obstacle on the basis of the result of extracting the frequency component. The amplitude level of the second transmission wave is greater than the amplitude level of the first transmission wave. The amplitude level of the first transmission wave is set so that the reception level of the reflected wave from a road surface with respect to the first transmission wave is equal to or lower than the predetermined threshold value. The amplitude level of the second transmission wave is set so that the reception level of the reflected wave from a partial region of the road surface with respect to the second transmission wave is greater than the predetermined threshold value.
