Provided is a detection device that detects an abnormality in a network in which a plurality of messages including response messages are sent and received by a plurality of communication apparatuses, the detection device including: an acquisition unit that acquires a plurality of items of load information respectively indicating communication loads at a plurality of locations in the network and respectively indicating communication loads due to the messages sent by the corresponding communication apparatuses; and a detection unit that detects an abnormality in the network on the basis of the consistency of the plurality of items of load information acquired by the acquisition unit.
