A detection and maintenance method and device for a server power supply system, for use in a server power supply system in which backup battery units (16) and a power supply module (5) are connected in parallel. The method comprises the following steps: calculating total output power (S101); determining whether the total output power is greater than the consumed power of a server (S102); if yes, increasing the output voltage of each backup battery unit (16) to be greater than the output voltage of the power supply module (15) (S103); and testing the characteristic parameters and remaining power of each backup battery unit (16), and when the remaining power of the backup battery unit (16) is lower than a preset threshold, decreasing the output voltage of each backup battery unit (16) to be less than the output voltage of the power supply module (S104). During the test, the power supply module (15) can replace the backup battery units (16) at any time when a server cannot be powered by the backup battery units (16) due to their failures, so as to avoid the server downtime caused by the failures of the backup battery units (16).
