Abstract:
Provided are a detector and detection method capable of detecting, with high sensitivity, a biological sample. A detector (50) comprises a microchamber array (4) having a plurality of storage sections (8) filled with a hydrophilic solvent containing a biological sample, and an image sensor (2) provided with picture elements (5) corresponding to the storage sections (8), and is characterized in that: the microchamber array (4) has a flow channel (24) passing through an opening (10) in the storage section (8), a hydrophobic solvent supply unit (56) provided in a connective row arrangement with the flow channel (54), and a through-hole (58) through which the hydrophilic solvent (42) can enter or exit with respect to the flow channel (54); and the hydrophobic solvent supply unit (56) causes a hydrophobic solvent (44) to flow into the flow channel (54) by force applied externally.
