This determination device measures the brain's electrical activity at multiple sites of a subject in each trial. The determination device (101) has an acquisition unit (102) that acquires response matrices for n number of trials performed under a first condition and response matrices for m number of trials performed under a second condition. An analysis unit (103) performs a canonical correlation analysis between the acquired response matrices and obtains first canonical variable time sequences. A distance unit (104) determines a distance matrix by calculating the distances between the trials from the obtained first canonical variable time sequences. A determination unit (105) determines, from the distance matrix the probability that the n number of trials and the m number of trials are classified into two different clusters and determines whether or not the first condition and the second condition are substantially different from each other. If one subject is tested by n number of trials wherein a first content is provided and m number of trials wherein a second content is provided, it is possible to assess a preference of the subject.. If the same content is provided in n number of trials where a first subject is tested and in m number of trials where a second subject is tested, it is possible to assess the differences between the subjects.
