Description:
DEVICE FOR BRANCH TRIMMING OF TREE

The object for the invention is a device for branch trim¬ ming of tree.

When felling trees they must be branch trimmed, i.e. the - branches must be cut off. When doing the work manually for instance with a motor chain saw or some other working tool the work is slow and dangerous to perform. The tree must be turned when branch trimming and in the wintertime the stems and the branches are at least partly covered by the snow, and the work is troublesome. Additionally, in the forest works multifunctional machines are applied, which both fell, branch trim and cut to length the trees. This kind of machines are expensive and the use of them is limited to relatively extensive felling tracts only.

The aim of the invention is to bring about a device for branch trimming of tree, which is suitable for use in all kinds of conditions, and which with the help of a working machine or corresponding is branch trimming safely and quickly the trees. In addition the purpose with the in¬ vention is to bring forward a device, which is simple to its structure, favourable to produce, dependable in its function and easy to use. Further the aim of the invention is to bring about a device, with the help of which trees different to their diameter can easily be branch trimmed.

The aim of the invention is achieved by a device, which is mainly characterized by it, what has been presented in the patent claims.

To the device in accordance with the invention belong a frame, which is formed from the bottom and thereto attached side edges, to the frame turnable and detachably fastened . cover part and fastening element, which is arranged to press the one end of the cover part in the direction of the bottom

of ,the frame. The device is placed around the tree and the fastening element is fastened on a stationary object and the . tree to be branch trimmed is moved in regard of the device. Hereat the edges of the device are branch trimming the tree when it is dragged through the device. The tree can be pull¬ ed with a working machine, such as for instance a tractor. The device is easy to place around the tree by putting first the frame of the device underneath the tree and' by fastening thereafter the cover part in its proper place. The cover part is pressed against the stem of the tree independing of the changing of the diameter of the tree mainly with the same force the whole time and the branch trimming result is efficacious.

The invention is explained more in detail by referring" to the attached drawing, which presents one application of the device in accordance with the invention assembled to readi¬ ness for branch trimming, but in which for explanation of the structure a tree has not been presented between the frame and the cover part.

In the application presented on the figure to the device belong a lengthy frame 1, which is formed from a bent bottom 2 and thereto attached mainly straight side edges 3, an on the frame detachably fastened cover part 4 and a fastening element 5.

On the side edges of the frame have been formed on both ends of the frame plate like protruding parts Ila, lib and the middle part of the side edge is considerably lower than than the ends. On the wall of the frame have been fastened supporting elements, in this application links 12 for the fastening element. The links are fastened on both sides of the frame. On the protruding parts lib of the one end 8 of the frame cuttings have been formed for fastening of the cover part.

The cover part is mainly equally long with the frame and it is bent to a certain degree. On the one end 7 of the cover part are in this application tenon formed fittings, with the help of which the cover part is fastened turnably 5 to the cuttings made on the end 8 of the frame. In other applications other known fastening solutions can be used. On the sides of the other end 6 of the cover part are at¬ tached plate like guiding units 13 and on top of the cover part the support element 14 is fastened for the fastening 10 element. The edge of the end 6 of the cover part and the edge of the end 9 of the frame have been bevelled and ar¬ ranged to form cutt ng blades.

The fastening element 5 is a rope like element and in this 15 application a wire cable has been used as the fastening element .

When using the device the frame is slipped underneath the tree in such a way, that the end 9 of the frame is facing

20 the branches to be trimmed off. The cover part is connected with the frame by placing the tenon formed fitting into the cuttings of the end 8 of the frame. In the following phase the wire cable 5 is drawn through the links 12 and the sup¬ porting element 14 of the cover part and the both ends of

25 the wire cable are fastened onto stationary objects, for instance trees. After this the butt end of the stem of the tree is attached to the working machine and with the help of the working machine the tree is dragged in regard of the device. The device is remaining on the spot and the

30 tree is transferred through it. Hereby the edges of the cover part and the frame trim off all the branches. The wire cable is pressing the whole time the cover part in the direction of the bottom of the frame, so when the dia¬

K meter of the tree is decreasing the branch trimming is i 35 taking place with equal accuracy. The supports Ila of the side edge are supporting in the sideway direction the guid¬ ing units 13 of the cover part, so that the cover part is

not allowed to move in the sideway direction.

The device in accordance with the invention is simple to use, with the help of it one person can branch trim the trees quickly and safely and in addition its operational and manufacturing costs are low.

The invention is not limited to the presented application, but it can vary within the frames of the patent claims.
