Abstract:
A vertical extrusion type unfired ceramic body forming device adapted so that it can perform operation from kneading to forming of ceramic clay in one continuous operation and can continuously produce unfired ceramic formed bodies (3) having high dimensional accuracy. The device for continuously forming the unfired ceramic formed bodies (3) has a vertical extruder (1), a screw kneader (6), a formed-body holding mechanism (4), and a cutting mechanism (5). The vertical extruder (1) has a vertical cylinder, a ceramic clay supply opening provided in the upper part of the vertical cylinder, a die case having a bottom on which a die is mounted, and a screw vertically placed in the cylinder so as to vertically feed ceramic clay supplied to the supply opening. The screw kneader (6) kneads and deaerates a ceramic raw material to prepare the ceramic clay and supplies the prepared ceramic clay to the vertical extruder (1). The formed-body holding mechanism (4) has placed on it a support plate (41) for supporting the lower surface of a ceramic formed body (3) extruded downward from the die and allows the support plate (41) to descend in synchronism with the speed of forming of the ceramic formed body (3) extruded from the vertical extruder (1) to thereby prevent deformation of the ceramic formed body (3) due to its own weight. The cutting mechanism (5) cuts the ceramic formed body (3) when it reaches a predetermined length during its extrusion from the die.
