This device (100) for controlling a vehicle equipped with a multi-stage automatic transmission is provided with: a hydraulic control unit (100b); a combustion control unit (100a) which executes a combustion stopping control during deceleration when a predetermined combustion stopping condition is satisfied while a vehicle (C) is traveling, and which during the execution of the combustion stopping control during deceleration regulates combustion resumption according to the reduction in the rotation speed of an internal combustion engine (1); and a motoring control unit (100c) which controls the rotational driving of the internal combustion engine (1) by a motor (10) so that, during the execution of the combustion stopping control during deceleration, the rotation speed of the internal combustion engine (1) is maintained at a predetermined rotation speed from the moment the rotation speed of the internal combustion engine (1) falls to the predetermined rotation speed to the moment a shift-down to a predetermined shift stage is completed.
