Title:
DEVICE FOR DESTROYING HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES (VARIANTS)
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2001/088438
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The invention relates to the transformation at high temperature of materials and can be used for the destruction of hazardous substances, for instance, degraded herbicides and pesticides. The inventive device for destroying hazardous substances comprises an arc plasma generator fitted with separate cathode (1) and anode (2) units embodied in the form of two cylinders having a clearance between the surfaces thereof, a protective chamber (3), a device for supplying a substance into plasma, a device for slag recuperation (8) and a unit for subsequent treatment of exhaust gas (9). The cathode unit represents a jet plasmatron fitted with a rod cathode (10) and a nose-piece (11). The processed material is transported by an annular flow along an passes arc-stream (17) and through a localizer (6). The particles are heated up when they come into contact with the surfaces of the anode cylinders. In the second variant, an arc channel heats an end of a rod made of a pressed glass-forming mix-material. Solid decomposition products of hazardous substances are incorporated into the melted glass-forming mix-material and eliminated for future processing.
