Title:
DEVICE FOR DETECTING ABNORMALITY IN ENGINE EXHAUST SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/076818
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
In an internal combustion engine, a hydrocarbon supply valve (15), a NOx adsorber catalyst (13), a particulate filter (14) and an electric resistance-type sensor (29) are arranged in this order as observed from the upstream side in an engine exhaust gas passage. In the electric resistance-type sensor (29), when a particulate substance and a hydrocarbon both contained in an exhaust gas are adhered onto a sensor part, an output value corresponding to the amount of the particulate substance and the hydrocarbon adhered is generated. On the basis of the change in the output value coming from the electric resistance-type sensor (29), it is determined whether or not the hydrocarbon slips through the NOx adsorber catalyst (13) and whether or not the particulate substance slips through the particulate filter (14).
