Abstract:
Provided is a means for correctly detecting mastication or swallowing. This mastication detection device 1 is provided with a main body 11, a displacement sensor 12 connected to the main body 11, and a microphone 13. The displacement sensor 12 is attached to the cheeks or the like of a user, and the microphone 13 is attached in the vicinity of the temples or the like of the user. The main body 11 smoothens a waveform represented by an output signal of the displacement sensor 12, detects mastication from the shape of the waveform after the smoothening, and counts the instances of detected mastication. However, the main body 11 specifies, on the basis of the output signal of the microphone 13, an utterance period of a user and does not perform the detection of mastication during the utterance period. The user, while masticating in synchronization with guide sounds output from a speaker 111, checks the cumulative value of mastication instances displayed on a display 112, and can thus easily achieve a target mastication count.
