Abstract:
In a station for enclosing a flat object (10) such as an imaging plate in a protective casing, two film webs (38, 40) are conveyed in parallel, one lying above the other. A stamp (68, 74) is used to simultaneously cut out sections of the two film webs (38, 40) lying one above the other. The flat object (10) is sandwiched between the two film webs (38, 44) by means of time-offset movement of the two film webs (38, 44) in such a way that the flat object (10) can fall through a window (68) of the upper film web (38) that remained when the protective casing was cut out in the previous operating cycle. Only after the flat object (10) has been laid on the lower film web (44) in such a way is the upper film web (38) moved further by an interval and the two film webs are welded in the vicinity of the subsequent cut edge and then separated from the film webs (38, 44) by means of a punch (28) and die (74) of the stamp.
