The filter cloth-expanding devices (100, 100A) in a filter press (200) wherein pairs of filter cloths (11, 11), the upper edges of which are joined, are expanded between filter plates (2, 2) that are open- and closeably disposed to face each other are provided with hollow rotating rolls (24) that are provided below the filter plate (2) and around which the lower ends of the filter cloths (11) are wound, floating rolls (23) that are rotatably disposed in the hollow interiors of the rotating rolls (24), and a pair of lower brackets (6, 6) that extend down from the lower parts of both edges of the filter plates (2). The paired lower brackets (6, 6) have elongated holes (22, 22) that are formed in the vertical direction and hold both ends of the floating rolls (23) therein.
