Technical Field of the Present Invention

The present invention relates to a face lifting device whereby sections of hair can be pulled back from the face and fixed in position in order to provide a natural face lift and method of use thereof.

Background of the Present Invention

Face lifting is a widely performed cosmetic procedure, commonly through elective surgery or chemical injections such as botulinum toxin (botox). These artificial methods cause irreversible change and harm the natural make-up of the skin. Therefore, there is a need for a device and method whereby the user can reversibly provide face lifting to desired areas using mechanical methods whenever they wish. In the state of the art there are conventional products and methods that address this need which will be delineated hereafter.

A first type of device and method utilizes hair combs placed on each side of the head in order to provide a face lift, which is exemplified by the invention disclosed in US 3,695,257 (A). However, as these types of devices are bulky, the user must wear their hair down while using them. Also, it is difficult for users to hide the device while doing activities that require a lot of movement, such as dancing; especially those users who have fine hair. In some devices the combs are pulled away from the face using sections of fake hair, which might not match the color of the user's hair, making it difficult for the user to hide the device. Additionally, as the combs can only be placed on the sides of the head above the ear, the device only provides face lifting to one region of the face.

A second type of device and method utilizes sticky pads that can be placed on different positions on the head which are attached to elastic lines that can be pulled away from the face in order to provide a face lift, which is exemplified by the inventions disclosed in US 3,736,925 (A) and US 3,575,165 (A). This type of device cannot provide a practical and ergonomic solution to the problem and requires the cumbersome task of removing the sticky pads from the head which can be painful. The sticky pads are usually disposable so new pads must be utilized with each use. Also, if the pads are placed in the wrong positions, they must be taken off and discarded and new pads must be used.

The present invention provides a device and method to ameliorate the above mentioned disadvantages in the state of the art. The invention can also provide a natural method of lifting the skin of the sides of eyes which cannot be lifted by chemical methods but only through surgical intervention.

The present invention discloses a device and method whereby the user's own hair is used to provide face lifting without requiring additional components such as fixtures or sticky pads. The user's hair is fixed in place at the back of the user's head using a small clip which has the advantage of being easy to hide. As the user's hair is fixed in place only at the back of the user's head, underneath the user's hair, the device can remain hidden regardless of whether the user has their hair up or down or whether the user engages in activities that require a lot of movement.

Another advantage provided by the use of the user's hair for face lifting is that sections of hair from any part of the head can be used. As each section of hair provides lift to a different portion of the skin of the face, the user can provide lift only to areas of the face where they see the need.

The invention also provides a quick and practical method of putting on and taking off the face lifting device.

The invention is also suitable for multiple uses, providing a sustainable and environmentally friendly device aimed to have longevity for the user.

The invention can also be produced in multiple colors in order to blend in with different hair colors. Brief Description of the Figures of the Present Invention

Detailed Description of the Present Invention

Figures 1-6 illustrate an embodiment of the present invention, referred to as a face lifting device (1). Face lifting device (1) comprises an elastic band (30) having a distinct shape which is fixed between a front body (10) and a back body (20).

Elastic band (30) has a fork shaped segment on one end and one-piece segment on the other end. Elastic band (30) is positioned between front body (10) and back body (20) by threading said elastic band (30) through inlet (11, 21) and outlet (12, 22). Elastic band (30) comprises a handle end (32) having a rounded rectangular shape at the one-piece segment. Elastic band (30) also comprises locking notches (33) on the fork shaped segment. Said fork shaped segment is connected to a locking end (31) via a neck (34).

Front and back bodies (10, 20) are closed over elastic band (30) and attached together and fixed in position via attachment means (14, 24). The distance between outlets (12, 22) and locking means (13, 23) of front and back bodies (10, 20) respectively is widest at the center and gets narrower towards the sides. In this manner elastic band (30) can move freely along the center but is locked in position when it is pulled to either side. Outlets (12, 22) and locking means (13, 23) have a softly chamfered end towards the center of front and back bodies (10, 20) respectively and a sharpened end towards the sides. In this manner, when elastic band (30) is in the locked position, locking notches (33) can be used to increase tension by pulling on said elastic band (30). Figure 7 illustrates a method of use of face lifting device (1). The method comprises the steps of:

a) Pulling the hair back, separating the sections of hair (40) required for the desired face life, joining said sections of hair (40) on the back of the hair and twist together a couple of times to fix in place

b) Readying elastic band (30) by pulling fork shaped segment of elastic band

(30) out of front and back bodies (10, 20)

c) Positioning elastic band (30) under twisted sections of hair (40), wrapping elastic band (30) around section of hair (40) and threading locking end

(31) through fork shaped segment of elastic band (30), clamping hair within elastic band (30) by pulling elastic band (30) out of front and back bodies (10, 20) using handle end (32)

d) Tightening elastic band (30) by pulling handle end (32), moving handle end (32) left and right to lock elastic band (30) in position e) Pulling the two sections of hair (40) in opposite directions to provide face lift, pulling elastic band (30) away while keeping front and back bodies (10, 20) in fixed position to clamp sections of hair (40) tighter

f) Releasing the hair that was pulled back in step A

After use, face lifting device (1) can be removed easily, quickly and without harming the user's hair by moving front and back bodies (10, 20) to the center of elastic band (30) and releasing segments of hair (40). In a nutshell, the present invention proposes a face lifting device (1) for providing face lifting wherein said face lifting device (1) comprises an elastic band (30), a front body (10) and a back body (20).

In one aspect of the present invention, said front body (10) and back body (20) are designed to be attachable to each other whereby said elastic band (30) is movably positioned therebetween.

In a further variation of the present invention, said elastic band (30) comprises a fork shaped segment and a one-piece segment.

In a still further variation of the present invention, said fork shaped segment comprises locking notches (33) whereby said elastic band (30) is lockable in position in-between said front body (10) and back body (20). In a still further variation of the present invention, said front body (10) comprises front body attachment means (14) and said back body (20) comprises back body attachment means (24) whereby said front body (10) and back body (20) can be attached to each other by interlocking of said front body attachment means (14) and back body attachment means (24).

In a still further variation of the present invention, front body (10) comprises front body inlet (11) and front body outlet (12) and said back body (20) comprises back body inlet (21) and back body outlet (22) whereby said elastic band (30) is movably positioned between said front body (10) and said back body (20).

In a still further variation of the present invention, said elastic band (30) comprises a handle end (32) and a neck (34).

In a still further variation of the present invention, front body (10) comprises front body locking means (13) and said back body (20) comprises back body locking means (23) whereby said elastic band (30) is lockable in position in- between said front body (10) and back body (20) by engagement of locking notches (32) with said front body locking means (13) and back body locking means (23).

In a still further variation of the present invention, said front body locking means (13) and back body locking means (23) have a softly chamfered end towards the center of front and back bodies (10, 20) respectively and a sharpened end towards the sides.

In a still further variation of the present invention, said method comprises the steps of a) pulling the hair back, separating the sections of hair (40) required for the desired face life, joining said sections of hair (40) on the back of the hair and twisting together a couple of times to fix in place; b) readying elastic band (30) by pulling fork shaped segment of elastic band (30) out of front and back bodies (10, 20); c) positioning elastic band (30) under twisted sections of hair (40), wrapping elastic band (30) around section of hair (40) and threading locking end (31) through fork shaped segment of elastic band (30), clamping hair within elastic band (30) by pulling elastic band (30) out of front and back bodies (10, 20) using handle end (32); d) tightening elastic band (30) by pulling handle end (32), moving handle end (32) left and right to lock elastic band (30) in position; e) pulling the two sections of hair (40) in opposite directions to provide face lift, pulling elastic band (30) away while keeping front and back bodies (10, 20) in fixed position to clamp sections of hair (40) tighter; and f) releasing the hair that was pulled back in step a.
