Title:
THE DEVICE FOR INSTALLATION OF CHAINS ON CAR WHEELS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2003/074300
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
This device is for installation of chains on the wheels of cars, and also for taking the chains off from the wheels while driving. This device is built of a two-way clutch consisting of an outside disk (11) and inside disk (12). They both work on undetachable disk (25) and on the two brake shoes (7), which are attached to the inside of the wheel and chains (2) going through slanting groove (3) in the tire1, from the ring (10) of clutch disk (11) to the ring (31) or smaller rings installed remanently to the rim (20). Putting on the chains (2) on the grooves (21) in tire, or taking them off is done by compressing clutch disks (11) and (12), and the back movement is caused by transmission consisting of a gear rack (15), (4) and (5).

Description:
THE DEVICE FOR INSTALLATION OF CHAINS ON CAR WHEELS.

The invention subject matter is a device for installation of chains on the wheels of cars and also for taking them off from the wheels while driving.

Now the chains are carried in the trunks of the cars.

The installation of chains is possible only when the car is parked.

The device for installation of chains-as the invention matter makes it possible to put chains on the tire groove and also take them off while driving.

This device is shown in the picture in which figure 1 shows the general diagram of the device, seen from the side of the car.

Figure 2 shows the side view of the device.

Figure 3 shows the device in a cross-section picture.

Figure 4 shows the chain in diagram.

The device for installation of chains is built on undetachable disk 26 connected to the rim 20. To the undetachable disk 26 is attached a moving clutch disk 11 outside and a moving clutch disk 12 inside, connected to the undetachable disk 26 by tightening bolts 14. The clutch disks 11 and 12 are connected together by the connector 28 and they have opposite gear racks 13 and 5, and in between them is a working toothed wheel 4 mounted on an axle attached to the undetachable disk 26.

There is a two-shoe brake 7 connected to the axle 8, over case or disk tightened by the two independent clutch disks 11 and 12.

Clutch disk 11 has a ring with holes 6 to clasp chains 2, which have buckles at the ends 18 and reels 19 between links.

The brake 7 has a shoe 29 with cover 25, shoe 30 with cover 24 piston 23 with cover 27 and piston 22 with cover 27.

Ring 31. with holes 32 for the chain is attached to the rim 20 or smaller rings ,, ears" are attached to the outside of the rim 20 to clasp chains 2 in an equal number of links to chains.

The tire 1 has grooves 3 below protector 21 that enables it to put chains 2 on the protector 21. The tightening of clutch disk 11 by piston 23 brake 7 makes it possible to put chains 2 on the protector 21 of tire 1 and also by use of toothed wheel 4 to move the clutch disk 12 forward. Tightening clutch disk 12 by piston 22 of brake 7 causes the backward movement of clutch disk 12 and by use of the toothed wheel 4 backward movement of disk 11 with chains 2, which are pulled into grooves 3 in the tire 1.

Blocking device 33 keeps disks 11 and 12 from moving, because of centrifugal power and of friction of chain base 2.
