Abstract:

The status of a user related to software, which was started from other software for performing message exchange, is announced to the other party in the message exchange. A message processor (13) implemented by an instant messenger (IM) on a client (10) outputs startup application information that relates to an application that has been started according to user operation received by an operation receiver (12), and IM status information that indicates the message status in the IM, and a window monitor (16) monitors a window displayed on a display unit (14) and outputs window status information that indicates the status of the window. Then, when the information meets the conditions in a rule definition stored in a rule memory (15), a rule interpreter (17) returns a status message defined for the conditions to the message processor (13), and notifies the other client via a communication unit (11).
