Title:
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/122946
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The value ∆ALPHA is calculated by subtracting 1 from the average of air-fuel ratio correction coefficients α in an air-fuel ratio feedback control system (step 1), and when ∆ALPHA is equal to or greater than a predetermined value ∆α1, the cross-sectional area of an orifice passage of a fuel injection valve is assessed to have been reduced by deposits (step 2). In a first stage of minimal deposit adhesion, in which the value ∆ALPHA is less than a second predetermined value ∆α2, the nozzle temperature is reduced and fuel pressure is increased by a decrease in compression ratio and a delay of ignition time, so that the deposits are removed (step 5). In a second stage of prevalent deposits, in which the value ∆ALPHA is equal to or greater than the second predetermined value ∆α2, the compression ratio is increased to increase the nozzle temperature, and deposits are incinerated. Reduction in orifice passage cross-sectional area due to deposit adhesion is avoided.
