Abstract:
In traffic lane boundary detection, low luminance values are acquired in areas below the tires and exactly below the center of the vehicle on the basis of a road surface image, and the degree of a snow rut indicating the luminance ratio between the luminance value in the area exactly below the center of the vehicle and one of the luminance values in the areas below the tires is calculated. A likelihood is calculated on the basis of the calculated degree of a snow rut by using a map, a parameter indicating the level of likelihood of a snow rut is calculated by low-pass filtering, and the parameter is compared with a predetermined threshold to determine a snow rut. Next, the outside temperature is acquired, and whether a snow rut exists is finally determined as described above by referencing the outside temperature. When it is determined that a snow rut exists, it is determined that traffic lane boundary detection is not to be performed, and when it is determined that a snow rut does not exist, it is determined that traffic lane boundary detection is to be performed.
