Title:
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING FAULT IN INTAKE TEMPERATURE SENSOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/069243
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A fault diagnosing device comprises a supercharger provided to an intake passage and driven by the output of an internal combustion engine, a communication channel through which the upstream side and the downstream side of the supercharger communicate, an opening/closing valve for opening and closing the communication channel, an upstream intake temperature sensor for detecting the intake temperature on the upstream side of the supercharger, and a downstream intake temperature sensor for detecting the intake temperature on the downstream side of the supercharger. The fault diagnosis device is used in an internal combustion engine in which a cooling device for cooling intake air is not provided on the upstream side of the downstream intake temperature sensor, and performs fault diagnoses on the upstream intake temperature sensor and the downstream intake temperature sensor. The fault diagnosis device diagnoses that the downstream intake temperature sensor has a fault when the internal combustion engine is operating in a low-load, low-speed region and the value detected by the downstream intake temperature sensor is at or above a predetermined high temperature. The fault diagnosis device prohibits subsequent fault diagnoses when the internal combustion engine is operating at loads or speeds above those in the low-load, low-speed region.
