Abstract:
A device and method of injecting purified water into a hot super heater piping system to dissociate said water into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen gases in the furnace of a power plant between 710 'F - 2500 'F to be used as supplemental fuel and fuel enhancer in said power plant. The purified water is injected at high pressure into the super heater pipe, travel in turbulent, circular manner, contact with pressure the hot wall of the super heater coil pipe, absorb more heat, expand further and dissociate into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen gases in the vertical expansion pipe in the forward end that is blanked with a conical plate. A Pipe nozzle is welded in fluid communication above said conical plate. The said high pressure gases exit at high velocity through this nozzle, ignite and cause more complete combustion of the fossil fuel in the furnace of said power plant, reduce emission, save fuel, increase power output, cleanse the plant of soot and release oxygen to make the environment cool and healthy.

Claims:
I Claim:

1. A device and method of injecting pressurized water into a hot super heater piping system, to dissociate said water into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen gases to be used as supplemental fuel and fuel enhancer in the furnace of a power plant by using the heat of said furnace between 710' F and 2500' F, consisting:

- a water purifier tank 1, with filtration accessories that supply purified water to an adjacent storage tank 2, to use said purified water for injection into the super heater piping system of the device and method, to prevent scaling of sediments in the piping system of said device that is installed inside the furnace of said power plant,

- a high pressure water pump 3 that delivers high pressure purified water to be injected into said device,

- a gate valve 4 that regulates water feed, connected in fluid communication to a water flow meter 5 that measures the amount of water feed to the said device,

- a foot valve 6 that prevents excess superheated steam from flowing backward,

- a small diameter supply pipe 7 that delivers pressurized water to high elevation, - a horizontal super heater pipe 8 with internal spiral plate 9 inside to cause

the superheated steam to spin, travel outwardly, exert great pressure on the hot inner wall of said super heater pipe, vertical super heater pipe 10 with internal spiral plate 11 that causes the hot gases to spin, expand and dissociate into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen gases in the vertical expansion pipe 11 that is blanked with a conical plate 14 at its forward end, having small diameter pipe nozzle 15 that is welded in fluid communication with said conical plate 14, wherein, all the above parts are connected in fluid communication with one another.

2. A device and method of injecting purified water into a super heater piping system that is installed in the furnace of a power plant to dissociate purified water into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen gases as in Claim 1, wherein said gases are released to burn with the fossil fuel, cause more complete combustion of said fossil fuel that results in reducing emission of carbon and toxic gases, neutralizing said toxic gases as evidenced by said gases becoming odorless.

3. A device and method of injecting purified water into a hot super heater piping system that is installed in the furnace of a power plant to dissociate water into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen gases that are released in the furnace of said power plant as in Claim 2, to burn and cause more complete combustion of the fossil fuel that results in saving fuel.

DEVICE AND METHOD OF DISSOCIATING WATER IN A POWER PLANT

TECHNICAL FIELD

This invention of device and method of injecting purified water into a hot piping system, uses the heat of the furnace of a power plant to dissociate water into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen gases between 710 'F - 2500 ' F, to be used as supplemental fuel to burn with the fossil fuel in the furnace of said power plant.

The present invention uses high pressure water pump to inject water into a hot super heater piping system in the furnace of a power plant in order to superheat and dissociate into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen gases having great pressure. The said hydrogen and oxygen gases are released at the conically blanked forward end of said super heater pipes, having smaller diameter heat resistant pipes, welded in fluid communication with the conical end, as a gas exit nozzle. The said high pressure gases exit at high velocity through this nozzle to burn as supplemental fuel

Inside the furnace. Since hydrogen burns 7-times faster than fossil fuels and release high amount of heat energy upon combustion, it therefore enhances the combustion of fossil fuel in the furnace of a power plant that results in saving fuel, reduce the emission of carbon and neutralize toxic chemicals of S02 and NOX as evidenced by the odorless exhaust gases. Said toxic chemicals are the main source of acid rain. The combustion of hydrogen and oxygen gases in the furnace of a power plant also cleans the super heater pipes of a power plant of soot and carbon to save on maintenance expenses and down-time losses. Oxygen is released from the smoke stack and being a heavy gaseous element, makes the environment cool and healthy.

By utilizing the heat of the furnace of a power plant to dissociate water into hydrogen and oxygen gases to be used as supplemental fuel and fuel enhancer in a power plant, the present invention could contribute greatly in reducing the cost of producing electricity while contributing in mitigating Global Warming, the main cause of rising world temperatures, rising sea levels and stronger typhoons brought about by Climate Change.

Water, being abundant, is the cheapest and cleanest source of renewable and sustainable hydrogen and oxygen fuel gas.

The present invention is safe for the power plant, the user and the public, since hydrogen produced immediately burns with the fossil fuel in the furnace as fuel that also causes the fossil fuel to burn more completely that results in saving fuel and reduce emission of carbon and destruction of toxic chemicals. Hydrogen storage is unnecessary. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

As cited in my existing Philippine Patent No. 1-2005-000344 and my existing U. S. Patent No. 7,913 654 B2, "Although hydrogen is a clean and a powerful source of energy, it is a chemically active element and not available in the free-state in nature in elemental gaseous form, it must be produced and stored for utilization in engines, but hazardous to the motoring public when carried on board a vehicle in case of accident.

Hydrogen can be obtained from compounds by breaking chemical bonds but requires a substantial amount of energy to accomplish. From hydrocarbons, a mixture of methane and steam is heated to a high temperature in the presence of catalysts in producing large quantities of hydrogen. From water, hydrogen is produced by electrolysis but is a slow process and insufficient to power a vehicle when carried on board. Methods of producing hydrogen are specifically exemplified in U. S. Patent Nos. 3,699,718. 3,786,138. 3,816,609. 3,859,373. 4,069,303. And 4,202,744.These methods include, steam-light hydrocarbon reforming, partial oxidation of hydrocarbons and other carbonaceous matter and coal gasification process.

All the above processes require storage of hydrogen to be carried on board a vehicle to be used as fuel but would create great danger to the motoring public when transported.

Water would therefore offer a convenient and compact source of hydrogen and oxygen fuel for a power plant because it is safe to transport and use.

The present invention provides for a device and method of injecting water into a hot super heater piping system in the furnace of a power plant to dissociate water into hydrogen and oxygen gases by using the heat of said furnace between 710 ' F to 2500 ' F, to be used as supplemental fuel in said power plant.

When the power plant is in operation, the water pump is started. The amount of water needed is regulated by the gate valve and the water flow meter with water supplied from a water tank. As soon as water is injected into the hot super heater piping system, it sizzles, expands and converts into superheated steam, proceed forward in spiral manner, proceed into the super heater coil, move in circular and turbulent manner, absorb more heat from said super heater coil, gain pressure and dissociate into its constituent high pressure hydrogen and oxygen gases in the vertical expansion pipe. The forward end of the expansion pipe is blanked with a cone, having a smaller diameter gas exit nozzle, welded in fluid communication above said cone, as a gas exit nozzle. Said high pressure gases exit at high velocity through this nozzle and ignite inside the furnace, similar to a fountain of fire that burn the fuel in the furnace almost completely and eliminate emission.

Since hydrogen burns 7-times faster than fossil fuel and release high amount of heat energy upon combustion, it therefore burns fossil fuel in the furnace more completely to reduce emission of carbon and other toxic chemicals as evidenced by odorless exhaust gases.

OBJECTIVES

The primary objective of this invention is to reduce emission of carbon and other toxic gases from a power plant by dissociating water into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen gases in said power plant to be used as a supplemental fuel and as a fuel enhancer in the furnace of said power plant in order to cause more complete combustion of said fossil fuel.

Another objective is to save fossil fuel since hydrogen as supplemental fuel, will contribute great amount of heat that makes it necessary to reduce the feeding of fossil fuel in order to regulate the furnace temperature down to the required operating temperature of said power plant.

Still another objective is to clean the super heater pipes and the inner walls of a power plant of soot and carbon to save on maintenance and down-time losses.

Yet another objective is to release oxygen from the smoke stack to make the environment cool and healthy.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Fig. 1 is the right side view of the device and method of injecting water into the hot super heater piping system in the furnace of a power plant to dissociate water into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen gases showing: water purifier tank 1, purified water tank 2, high pressure pump 3, gate valve 4, water flow meter 5, foot valve 6, water supply pipe 7, horizontal super heater pipe 8, with internal spiral plate 9, super heater pipe 10, with internal spiral plate 11, super heater coil 12, expansion pipe 13 with conical blanking plate at the forward end. Smaller diameter heat resistant nozzle 15 is welded in fluid communication above said cone plate, as a gas exit nozzle on said plate. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

This invention uses the heat of the furnace of a power plant to dissociate purified water into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen gases to be used as supplemental fuel and fuel enhancer for power plants in order to eliminate emission, save fuel, clean the super heater pipes of soot and release oxygen to the environment. Odorless exhaust gases indicate neutralization of S02 and NOX gases inside the furnace of a power plant.

When the power plant is in operation, water is injected into the super heater piping system of the device and method, to be dissociated into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen gases, to be used as supplemental fuel and fuel enhance in said power plant. The water injected sizzles, expands into superheated steam, travel in spiral manner, expand, exert great pressure and contact with with the hot inner wall of the super heater coil and dissociate into hydrogen and oxygen gases, in the larger forward super heater pipe that is blanked with a conical plate at the forward end. Said conical plate is provided with a short and smaller diameter pipe that is welded in fluid communication with said conical plate, as a gas exit nozzle. The high pressure dissociated hydrogen and oxygen gases exit at high velocity through these nozzles to burn with the fossil fuel in in the furnace of said power plant. Since hydrogen burns 7-times faster than fossil fuel and release high amount of heat energy upon combustion, it therefore causes the fossil fuel in the furnace to burn more completely that results in reducing emission of carbon and other toxic gases, save fossil fuel, clean the super heater pipes of the power plant of soot to save on maintenance and down-time losses and release oxygen to make the environment cool and healthy.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Fig. 1 is the right side view of the device and method of Injecting water into the super heater piping system is seen to include a purifier tank 1, purified water tank 2, high pressure pump 3, gate valve 4, water flow meter 5, foot valve 6, delivery pipe 7, horizontal super heater pipe 8 with internal spiral plate 9, vertical super heater pipe 10 with internal spiral plate 11, super heater coil pipe 12, expansion pipe 13 with conical blanking plate 14 having a smaller diameter exit nozzle 15 welded in fluid communication with said cone.

Fig. 2 is an enlargement of Fig. 1, showing horizontal super heater pipe 8 with Internal spiral plate 9 and vertical super heater 10 with internal spiral plate 11 and exit nozzle 15. Fig. 2 also shows super heater coil pipe 12, expansion pipe 13, wherein the superheated steam dissociates into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen gases that exit from nozzle 15 at high velocity in the furnace to burn with the fossil fuel. When the power plant is in operation and having checked all instruments and systems, water may now be injected in the device and method to be dissociated into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen gases to be used as supplemental fuel, to burn with the fossil fuel in the furnace of a power plant between 710'F - 2500'F. As soon as gate valve 4 is slowly opened, water from purified water tank 2 will flow through the water meter 5, proceed through foot valve 6 and delivery pipe 7, flow through horizontal super heater pipe 8 having internal spiral plate 9, flow in spiral manner, contact with great pressure the hot wall of said super heater pipe 10, having spiral plate 11 that causes the superheated steam to absorb more heat, expand further and proceed into super heater coil pipe 12, move in circular and turbulent manner, expands further and dissociate into its constituent hydrogen and oxygen gases in the large expansion pipe with conical blanking plate 14 at the forward end having a small diameter pipe nozzle 15, welded in fluid communication with said cone.

The high pressure dissociated hydrogen and oxygen gases exit at high velocity through these nozzles and ignite like fountain of fire to burn with the fossil fuel in the furnace.

Since hydrogen burns 7-times faster than fossil fuel, it would therefore cause the fossil fuel to burn almost completely that results in saving fuel and in greatly reducing emission of carbon and toxic gases such as sulfur dioxide (S02) and nitrous oxide (NOx), that are the main source of acid rain that is harmful to humans, corrode roofs and paints on buidings, turn the soil, rivers and lakes acidic that damages crops and marine life.

The elimination of these GHG would bring countless social health benefits such as savings from medication and hospitalization expenses, minimize absences from work and classes for school children.

The high speed combustion of hydrogen would also prevent accumulation of soot to save on maintenance and down-time losses for power plant operators.

After the combustion of hydrogen and oxygen in the furnace of a power plant, oxygen is released from the smoke stack. Since oxygen is the heaviest gaseous element, it therefore settles at ground level to make the environment cool and healthy.
