Abstract:
A device and method for forming an end of a coiled spring. The device has a pair
of horizontally disposed parallel rollers (8), a core (22), a stopper (20) installed
adjacent to the peripheral surface of the core (22) and vertically moving and
rotating integrally with the core (22), a clamping jig (24) installed so as to
be approachable and separable from the core (22) and holding a half-finished
spring (30) in cooperation with the core (22), and a pusher (12) for pushing the
half-finished spring (30) toward the stopper (20). In the method, a big tail
part is formed at one end of the half-finished spring (30) when the axis of the core
(22) is positioned between the axis of the half-finished spring (30) and the axes
of the parallel rollers (8). To make the big tail part, a clamping part (2) rotates
the half-finished spring (30) in its coiling direction about the axis while holding
the spring (30) inside a triangle formed by the axes of the parallel rollers (8)
and the axis of the core (22).
