Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for managing defects in a web material on conversion lines. In particular, the device relates to identifying defective sections of web/web material and rejecting the defective pieces before they enter the downstream processes of a conversion line, such as bag making. In a key aspect of the invention, the defects management device comprises a defects detection unit (3), and a defects management control unit (5) which monitor progress of the defect on the traveling web material (1)and subsequently identifies the section of the of web material containing the defect to be cut, the defects management control unit also communicates with the control unit of the conversion line to operate selectively the cutting unit that cuts the web material into pieces. A method to manage defects in web material comprising the steps of detecting defects in web material, identifying web material piece/section containing defect and rejecting it from the production line it is also disclosed.
