Abstract:
Disclosed are a device and a method for managing a flash memory using a page unit mapping. A mapping information generation unit divides pages which constitute blocks into a plurality of page groups, and generates first mapping information to be recorded on preliminary areas of pages that belong to a first page group and second mapping information to be recorded on preliminary areas of pages that belong to the remaining page groups. When a write operation for each page is performed, a mapping information recording unit accumulatively records the mapping information of the pages in the preliminary areas, on which the write operation is performed, and the mapping information of the pages which precede the pages on which the writing operation is performed. In case of a power failure, a mapping information restoration unit restores a mapping table on the basis of the integrated mapping information which is recorded on the preliminary areas of recent pages or representative pages of the page groups that constitute each block.
