Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting data transmission rates higher than those of 4G communication systems such as LTE. This method performed by a base station in a wireless communication system may comprise the steps of: generating a synchronization signal to be transmitted through at least one symbol, and at least one slot including the at least one symbol; transmitting the at least one slot including the at least one symbol to a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) and a terminal, the at least one symbol being used to determine an operation that should be performed by the terminal for a predetermined time interval including the at least one slot; transmitting at least one slot including the synchronization signal to the terminal through one or more beams formed according to an RIS pattern; receiving a beam-specific measurement result from the terminal on the basis of the one or more beams formed according to the RIS pattern; determining, on the basis of the beam-specific measurement result, an RIS pattern for transmitting data; transmitting, to the RIS, on the basis of the determined RIS pattern, a signal for controlling an RIS pattern; and transmitting a data signal to the terminal on the basis of the RIS to which the determined RIS pattern is applied.
