Abstract:
The present invention provides a device and a method for producing a coil-shaped fiber, which are capable of fully automatically producing a coil-shaped fiber having a stable quality. A device for producing a coil-shaped fiber according to the present invention comprises: a twisting apparatus for forming a coil-shaped fiber by adding torsion to fiber so as to have a cylindrical coil shape; a detection apparatus; and a control apparatus for controlling the twisting apparatus. Here, in the fiber, a plurality of first regions and a plurality of second regions having a surface color different from the surface color of the plurality of first regions are alternately provided along the long-axis direction of the fiber according to a predetermined rule. The detection apparatus detects the central-axis direction length of a coil in at least one of the plurality of first regions having a coil shape. When the central-axis direction length, detected by the detection apparatus, of at least one coil in at least one of the plurality of first regions is equal to a predetermined length, the control apparatus causes the twisting apparatus to perform an operation of adding torsion to fiber included in a second region adjacent to at least one of the plurality of first regions.
