Title:
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAMPLES FROM PREDOMINANTLY DUST-LIKE AND DRY MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2002063276
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device and a method for producing samples from predominantly dust-like and dry material, especially dust-like residues of combustion such as filter ash or flue ash, for determining the residual carbon content by determining the change in electrical parameters of a complex electrical component containing the produced samples to be examined. The aim of the invention is to solve the technical problem of easily obtaining suitable samples from dust-like and dry material such as filter ash or flue ash having extremely bad flow behaviour, enabling the residual carbon content to be determined with a high level of precision according to the described method. To this end, the flue ash is transported into the complex electrical component (3) by means of a screw conveyor (2) and is compressed until a rapid, significant increase of the compression force is indicated. It was observed that during the compression of flue ash, a rapid increase in compression force of over 200 % is produced when a defined reproducible degree of compression is obtained, without any further increase occurring in the degree of compression. Possible samples having defined compression ratios can thus be produced, said samples enabling a sufficiently precise determination of the residual carbon content.
