The invention relates to a device for monitoring the state of a housing of a primary or secondary coil of a device for the inductive transfer of electrical energy from a stationary unit to a vehicle which is adjacent to said unit. At least one measuring line is arranged in or on the housing between the surface side facing the respective other coil in the transmission mode and the coil located in the housing, said measuring line comprising a plurality of loops which together define an area which lies between said surface side of the housing and the coil, wherein the outer contour of which encloses in the projection onto said surface side of the housing the outer contour of the coil. The measuring line is connected to an electrical measurement device which detects at least one measurement value which is dependent on the electrical resistance of the measuring line. The measurement device is connected to an evaluation device which derives at least one signal from the measurement value detected by the measurement device, said signal indicating a state of said surface side of the housing.
