Abstract:
A device for opening and closing a vehicle door, configured in such a manner that a handle and a lever which transmits force for unlocking operation to a latch mechanism are pivotably supported on the door and also in such a manner that the lever pivots in response to the pivotal operation of the handle to bring one end of the lever into contact with a contact surface which is formed on the handle at a position offset from the pivot support point of the handle. A portion of the contact surface (47), the portion coming into contact with the one end of the lever (46) at least in the initial stage of operation of the handle (23) in which the handle (23) is operated to the door opening side, is formed to be sloped or curved in such a manner that, as the portion approaches the pivot support point of the lever (46) along a plane (PL) perpendicular to the direction (52) of movement of the contact surface (47) when the handle (23) is pivoted, the portion is located forward in the direction (52) of movement and intersects the plane (PL). As a result of the configuration, at least in the initial stage of operation of the handle, large rotational torque can be applied to the lever by a small operational force.
