A device for orientating the position of a horse in a compartment
The present invention refers to a device for orientating the position of a horse in a compartment e.g. during a horse transport. The compartment comprises a fence surrounding said horse, which in the height of the body of the horse, preferably behind the horse, has a protruding means, e.g. brush device having a number of protruding elements, preferably a number of brush straws. When the horse moves the protruding elements contact the horse, which makes that the horse moves a bit away from these and will mainly try to get away from these.
In structures of the type in question currently on the market one has problems when a horse shall be transported that it often contacts a fence provided around the horse, said fence is in the form of e.g. tubes built up like a surrounding structure. The horse needs to move and swing forwards and backwards within said fence, which makes that it will be exhausted and can get hurt by the surrounding structure. The horse also feels that when a door is opened and lowered downwards behind the horse, so that it has the possibility to back out from the horse transport, it want to go out before that a bar in the surrounding structure behind the horse has been opened when the door is lowered. At this moment it often happens that any of the hind legs of the horse can get under the bar and tread down outside the lowered door. At this moment the horse can get hurt very much. In order to solve this problem, one has tried to provide wadded means behind and sometimes also in front of and also at the sides of the horse in the surrounding structure. The wadded means do not make any good, since the horse still moves during the transport and in this way will be exhausted. Further the wadded means do not give any solution of the problem when the horse shall back out, when the door is lowered and the bar has been opened.
One object of the present invention is to eliminate those drawbacks existing with the structures mentioned above by that the surrounding structure is provided with a protruding means having a number of

protruding elemens directed towards the horse, which has a very sensitive skin, which makes that when the horse contacts said protruding elements, it moves a bit from said protruding elements and thereafter tries to avoid to contact these once more.
Thanks to the invention a cheap, simple and effective device has been provided in order to have a standing horse to move less in a compartment, preferable during a horse transport. According to the invention the compartment comprises a fence surrounding the horse, which in at least one place, in the height with the body of the horse, preferable behind the horse, has at least one protruding means having a number of protruding elements, which can be thin and made by a bit flexible material in the form of e.g. straws, pins, sheet elements, rills or thin tube formations having a length of 10-200 mm. The protruding elements can be up to a thickness of about ca 5 mm, provided that they are flexible so that they do not stitch the skin of the horse too hard. The protruding means and the protruding elements can be cast separately or like one single portion of e.g. plastic. The protruding means comprises in a preferable embodiment example according to the present invention, a brush means, where the protruding elements consist of a number bundle of brush straws fastened in an anchor plate like a besom brush. The protruding elements point towards the horse. The fence comprises of a number of elongated profiles e.g. tubes forming a structure surrounding the horse, upon which the projecting means is provided. The horse moves gladly during transport within the fence. A horse has a skin, which is very sensitive and easy to irritate. If a fly has landed on the skin, the same is immediate wrinkled, so that the fly shall fly away and the irritation stops. The horse does not feel good when the protruding elements contact the skin of the body, which makes it to move a bit from these and thereafter is trying to keep away from the same, which makes that the horse does not get exhausted, when it stands without movements during the transport and in this way gets hurt less. Behind the horse during the horse transport a bar, which can be opened, is provided and which is provided with said protruding means in order to stop the horse in trying to back out from the horse transport before the bar is
opened, in order to prevent the horse to move its hind legs outside a downward lowered door and to be hurt. In a preferred embodiment example the anchoring means of the protruding means comprises a number of openings, in which one end of the protruding elements is fixed. The anchor plate is firmly provided in two fittings surrounding the profile, which are movable and fixable in an optional position in the profile having the protruding elements pointing in a direction towards the body of the horse. The fittings comprise a bottom portion for fixing against the backside of the anchor plate. The bottom portion comprises a first surrounding portion having locking grooves. A second surrounding portion for fixing the profile also comprises grooves. The locking grooves are locked together by a snapping function or by a screw function provided by the fittings against the profile. The second surrounding portion is movably connected to the first one via the bottom portion for folding over said profile via a pivot function. The other surrounding portion comprises a locking handle, which by hand power actuate the position of a locking groove and locking function in order to be able to unlock said snapping function and release the protruding means. When the locking grooves are locked in each other the surrounding portions comprise a mainly circle formed opening for surrounding the profile by an insert which can be replaced and is provided between the profile and the surrounding portions, preferably made of a rubber-like material such as TPE, intended to suite, surround and to lie against the long sides of different profiles. The profiles then can be formed such as a tube having a cross section, which is round, square, oval, or another non-uniform cross section such as an U-, L-, T-formed profile. The anchor plate according to the invention can have different forms such as e.g. round, oval, square, three edged or to be formed in another way. At the embodiment example preferred the anchoring plate is formed such as an elongated formation, e.g. a lid- or board formation, the length of which is essentially greater than its width and height, having an upper portion, sides and gables which can be planar or curved. The protruding elements are provided in the upper portion, lie a number of bundles or like a number separate protruding elements. The bottom portion in the fitting comprises two gripping means pointing in a direction towards the anchoring plate to
grasp its two opposite sides at the same time as the fitting is orientated in position across the longitudinal direction of the profile. The gripping portions comprise extensions to grasp elongated grooves located at the sides in order to provide an orientation into position of the fittings in said anchor plate, which has a number of screw holes for a firm anchoring of the back side of the anchor plate in said bottom portion. The gables in the anchor plate comprise a male portion and a female portion in each of their gables, which match each other in order to connect together a number of protruding means in a row one after the other gable against gable, male portion in female portion, by that the female portion consists of a recess made by the whole or part of the thickness of the anchor plate, and that the male/female portion comprises a broader part and a narrower part for connection to each other in the longitudinal direction of the anchor plate.
The most important advantages of the invention will thus be that a device has been provided, which is very simple, cheap, aesthetic attractive and easy to handle, in order to keep the horse in position within said fence, which means that the horse rests better and remains unhurt during a horse transport and unloading.
