Abstract:

A device for repairing by polishing an optical disk, which can provide a proper, uniform pressure necessary for polishing, correct the planar parallelism precision of the rotation surfaces of an optical disk and a polishing sheet, eliminate the rounding of the outer peripheral edge and polished unevenness of the optical disk, facilitate the discharging of polishing chips, and prevent loading of the polishing sheet to prevent loading-caused scratches on the surface of the optical disk, and which comprises a disk drive unit (A) and a polishing mechanism (B), wherein the polishing mechanism (B) has an elastic mechanism (D) for elastically holding a polishing pad (C), the polishing sheet of the polishing pad (C) has elasticity that allows a deformation $g(D)x of 0.005-0.3 mm when in contact with the optical disk surface under a pressure required by polishing, the elastic mechanism (D) has a structure having elasticity in a press-contacting direction to the optical disk and rigidity with respect to a shearing direction, and an adjustment is so made that a ratio between the disk angular velocity $g(v)a of the disk drive unit (A) and the polishing sheet angular velocity $g(v)b of the polishing mechanism (B) falls within a range 0.2 < $g(v)a/$g(v)b< 1.5.
