Abstract:
A device for reducing the resistance of a ship body discharges bubbles to the outer surface of the body of the ship to reduce the frictional resistance occurring when the ship navigates. The device is provided with a supercharger (20) driven by exhaust gas from the main engine of the ship and delivering, under pressure, air for combustion to the main engine. The air for combustion, which is supplied from the supercharger (20) to the main engine, is extracted and discharged to the outer surface of the ship body. The supercharger (20) is provided with a variable nozzle capable of adjusting the flow speed of the exhaust gas in two stages. When the air for combustion is extracted and discharged to the outer surface of the ship body, the opening of the variable nozzle is reduced, and when the air for combustion is not extracted and discharged to the outer surface of the ship body, the variable nozzle is opened.
