Provided is a more compact and easy-to-install device for removing extraneous matter. The device for removing extraneous matter comprises a drive roller (20) which rotates while interlocking with conveyance operation of the conveyer belt (4) of a belt conveyer (B), an extraneous matter-removing rotor (30) supported rotatably by a second shaft (31), different from a first shaft (21), of the drive roller (20), and a mechanism (40) for transmitting the rotation of the drive roller (20) to the removing rotor (30) such that the removing rotor (30) rotates reversely to the drive roller (20), wherein the drive roller (20) and the removing rotor (30) are installed such that the region of the drive roller (20) in contact with the conveyer belt (4) does not overlap the region of the removing rotor (30) in contact with the conveyer belt (4), and the center distance (L1) between the first shaft (21) and the second shaft (31) is set equal to or less than the total value of the maximum radius (R1) of the drive roller (20) and the maximum radius (R2) of the removing rotor (30).
