Abstract:
A method for restoring data lost due to a failure in a storage drive, said method comprising: selecting a first logical region of a failed first storage drive; identifying a first logical region line that includes the first logical region, comprises logical region blocks of different storage drives, and stores a data set having a redundant configuration from which lost internal data can be restored; selecting, from the first logical region line, one or more second logical regions to be accessed in order to restore the data in the first logical region; and issuing, to each second storage drive that provides a respective one of the one or more second logical regions, a data storage information request inquiring whether the second logical region provided by the second storage drive stores valid data.
