approximately horizontal surface
The invention belongs to building construction, namely to machines for construction, namely to machines for providing of hydro-insulating coatings. In addition to that, such invention belongs to construction or repair of roads or similar objects, namely to machines for preparing or distribution of in particular liquid materials intended for consolidation or finishing the paving.
The purpose of the invention is providing one on the one hand an efficient and on the other hand a simple and comfortable device for application and spreading of liquid bitumen onto each disposable at least approximately horizontal surface of a concrete or any other sufficiently hard material.
A device for distribution of bitumen onto a previously consolidated ground is described in GB 1 ,066,631. Such a device consists of a frame, which is preferably a mobile one and may e.g. be a chassis of a light trailer or the like, wherein a distribution pipe for dispensing bitumen into the area below said trailer is arranged on the front end portion with respect to a direction of progression of such device during the use thereof, and wherein behind said pipe there is a brush which is allowed to rotate around its horizontal axis, which is directed transversally with regard to a direction of progression of the device during the use thereof. Said pipe is filled with a liquid bitumen and is moreover furnished with a plurality of elongated openings, which are located apart from each other and through which bitumen is dispensed onto the ground during the progressive movement of said frame, so that relatively thick strips of bitumen are formed on the ground. Intensity of dispensing said bitumen is determined by means of positioning of closures, by which said elongated bitumen distributing openings are partially covered. Said brush consists of radially outwards extending and relatively resilient fibers and is positioned in such manner that said fibers are in contact with the ground. By dispensing bitumen from said pipe onto the ground during progression of sad frame, the brush should spread bitumen by means of said fibers, by which appropriately thin bituminous hydro-insulating layer should be formed on the ground surface. Indeed, such concept allows that such device is relatively simple, but simultaneously also results in several deficiencies. One of them is presented by uneven thickness of such obtained bituminous layer. Namely, when bitumen is dispensed throughout each opening of the pipe on the front end portion of the frame, it takes some time that the dispensed bitumen is then spread by means of fibers into appropriate layer, which should be as uniform as possible. The temperature of the ground normally corresponds to the atmosphere temperature, which may also vary during the time. In a chilly weather, bitumen may quickly be cooled in such extent that when coming in contact with fibers of the brush it may already become at least partially hardened and may therefore just partially be spread. Consequently, the thickness of such applied bituminous layer may essentially vary and may in certain areas be sufficient or even excessive, while in certain areas the bituminous layer may be insufficiently thick or maybe even does not exist. A further deficiency results from rotating the brush around the horizontal axis, which is inclined with respect to the transversal direction of the frame in respect of a direction of progression during the use. When the brush is rotating around said axis, bituminous particles on the fibers are exposed to centrifugal forces and are therefore sprayed towards the adjacency. Mounting of appropriate protecting screen leads to concentrating said particles on the surface of such screen, where a bituminous layer is formed, which may quickly become more and more thick. Consequently, frequently removing of said layer is then required, which is due to known properties of bitumen time consuming and any may have essential impact to effectiveness of such apparatus. Moreover, bitumen is also collected on fibers of the brush, where at least a part of bitumen is cooled and remains adhered thereon. Cleaning of brushes is generally possible but is in the practice not economic. Accordingly, each brush must be replaced after a relatively short time period of use. However, the brush in a discussed device extends over the complete width of the device, and the length of the brush is due to its inclined axis even larger than the width of the device as such. Consequently, such brush is pretty expensive and replacing thereof normally involves essential expenses, which are by frequently replacing brushes in particular high.
The invention refers to a device for spreading a bituminous coating onto at least approximately horizontal surface, wherein such device comprises a frame, on which at least two around their axis rotatable brushes are foreseen. Besides, said frame is furnished with at least two wheels which are allowed to rotate around a horizontal axis, which extends transversally with respect to a direction of progression of such device during the use thereof, as well as with a platform, which is intended for placing a container with bitumen there-on, wherein said container is via a supplying pipe hydraulically connectable with a pump adapted for transporting bitumen towards to distribution pipe, which is intended for dispensing bitumen in the area of said brushes.
According to the invention, each one of said brushes is rotatable around its vertical axis, which extends vertically and at least approximately perpendicular with respect to the ground, wherein the axis of said brushes extend at least approximately parallel to each other.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, two brushes are foreseen, which are allowed to rotate around their parallel axis in opposite directions and which are either are jointly driven by means of a common driving means, which is by means of a battery supplied with electric energy, and are jointly controlled by means of a control unit, or may also be separately driven by means of a common driving means, which is by means of a battery supplied with electric energy, and are each per se controlled by means of a control unit.
Moreover, two wheels are foreseen on the frame, which are with respect to direction of progression of the device during the use thereof arranged on the rear end portion of the frame and are driven by means of an electric motor, which is by means of a battery supplied with electric energy and controlled by means of the control unit. The pump is also controlled by means of said control unit.
Besides, a two-part grip is attached to the frame, wherein its first part is connected with the frame and is by means of a foldable mechanism interconnected with the second part, which is located apart from the frame and may by means of said mechanism be pivoted from its extracted position, in which it is essentially aligned with the other part and protrudes in a direction away from the frame, into its folded position, in which said part is located closely above the frame, wherein in both these positions of said part both parts of the grip are firmly connected to each other. In one embodiment, said control unit is located on that part of the grip, which is located apart from the frame, whilst alternatively the control unit may also be located on that part of the grip, which is directly connected with the frame. The invention will be described in more detail on the basis of an embodiment, which is shown in the attached drawings, wherein
Fig. 1 is a plan view of a schematically shown device for spreading a bituminous coating according to the invention; and
Fig. 2 is a top view of a schematically shown device according to Fig. 1.
A device according to the invention comprises a frame 1, which is on the front end portion 11 with regard to direction of progression during the use thereof furnished with at least two brushes 2, 3, which are rotatable around their axis 20, 30 extending perpendicularly with respect to the ground, while on the rear end portion 12 two wheels are foreseen, which are rotatable around the horizontal axis 405. Each brush 2, 3 is exchangeable and may whenever desired be simply replaced with an unused one. A grip 56 is attached to said frame 1 at the aforementioned end portion 12 adjacent to said wheel, and is intended for the purposes of steering the device during the use, or optionally also for carrying thereof, when the device is not operating. To this aim, said grip 6 comprises appropriate folding mechanism 60, by means of which the first part 61 of the grip 6, which is connected with said frame 1, is interconnected with the second part 62 of the grip, which is located apart from the frame 1, and which enables adjusting the grip 6 either into extended position according to Figs. 1 and 2, in which the second part 62 of the grip 6 is located apart from the frame 1 and protrudes away from it, or into a folded position, in which the second part 62 of the grip 6 is located above the frame 1 and apart from it, which is comfortable for carrying said device by means of said grip 6.. Moreover, a control unit 9 is foreseen on the grip 6 and in particular on the apart from the frame 1 located second part 62 thereof, which is used to control rotation of brushes 2, 3, driving the wheels 4, 5 and operation of a pump 7. A platform 13 is furthermore foreseen on said frame 1, which is adapted for placing of a not shown container with bitumen, and moreover, said frame 1 is equipped with a pump 7, which enables pumping of bitumen from said container, as well with a means for driving said brushes 2, 3 and a means for driving said wheels 4, 5. In this particular embodiment, the driving means for driving of said pump 7 and other components are preferably electric motors, which are supplied by electric energy from a battery 8.
Said brushes 2, 3 are preferably rotated around vertical axis 20, 30 thereof in the opposite directions. Those skilled in the art should understand that said driving means for brushes 2, 3 may either be a separate driving means for each particular brush, pr may also be a common driving means, by means of which each available brush 2, 3 is then driven via appropriate transmission.
Said pump 7 is hydraulically interconnected with a pipe 71 for supplying bitumen from a not shown container placed onto a platform 13 on said frame and simultaneously also with a distributing pipe 70, which is furnished with a plurality of openings, preferably at least 6 - 8 openings, through which bitumen is supplied into the area of rotation of brushes 2, 3.
As soon as the container us placed onto said platform 13 and appropriate end portion of said pipe 71 is inserted into the container, rotation of wheels 4, 5 and brushes 2, 3 is initiated and the pump 7 is switched-on. Said brushes 2, 3 are slightly pressed towards the ground due to the torque, which is applied for the purposes of rotating the wheels 4, 5. Thanks to operating said pump 7, bitumen is supplied via the pipe 71 towards the area of brushes 2, 3, and said bitumen is then by means of said brushes 2, 3 rotating around their vertical axis 20, 30 uniformly spread over the ground surface. Thos skilled in the art should further understand that each brush 2, 3 is relatively simple and also relatively small and is therefore correspondingly cheap, so that replacing thereof in the case of exhaustion or e.g. excessive saturation with bitumen does not mean any essential expense. Moreover, rotation of brushes 2, 3 should normally not lead to spraying of bitumen towards the circumferential areas, so that arrangement of additional protection means around brushes 2, 3 is not necessary.
