Title:
DEVICE SUCKED TO THE SURFACE OF AN OBJECT AND MOVABLE THEREALONG
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1995/003205
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
To provide a device sucked to the surface of an object and movable therealong wherein a frictional force between a suction seal and the surface of the object is reduced by vibrating at least the part of the suction seal that is in contact with the surface of the object, whereby a stable driving force is provided. A device comprising a pressure reducing housing, moving means, a suction seal mounted in the pressure reducing housing and defining a pressure reducing space in cooperation with the pressure reducing housing and the surface of an object and vacuum generating means for discharging fluid out of the pressure reducing space, whereby said device can be sucked to the surface of the object by virtue of the pressure of surrounding fluid acting on the pressure reducing housing due to the difference in fluid pressure between the inside and outside of the pressure reducing space and move along the surface of the object, wherein at least the part of the suction seal which is in contact with the surface of the object is constructed so as to vibrate.
