Abstract:
Disclosed is a device established on a vehicle, that captures a blind-corner region outside of a field of view at the vehicle backside region and a side-mirror adjacent to the backside region. A captured image is image-processed to compress blind-corner regions in the captured image. The image-processed image is displayed so that it is viewable by a driver. Here, blind-corners in the captured image are compressed to suppress sudden position changes in a horizontal direction in the captured image of an object, for changes in a distance from the vehicle to the object. Specifically, compression is implemented so that a position change rate of the object in the horizontal direction in the captured image is substantially the same as the position change rate of the object in the horizontal direction in the side mirror, for changes in the distance from the vehicle to the object. In this way, it is possible to suppress a phenomenon that it appears the object suddenly accelerates when near the vehicle.
